Donald Trump threatens to 'end' Iran if they try to 'fight' America

US President Donald Trump has tweeted he will "end" Iran if they threaten America.

"If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran" wrote Trump on Monday

"Never threaten the United States again!"

Trump's threat comes as tension rises between Washington and Tehran.

Earlier this month the US military deployed a carrier strike group and bomber task force to the region in response to "clear indications" Iran was preparing an attack against US forces.

Carrier strike groups are Navy formations, composed of approximately 7500 personnel, an aircraft carrier and multiple warships.

The White House said the task force was being deployed due to "troubling and escalatory indications and warning," of a threat from Iran, reports ABC News.

Last week, the US State Department ordered all non-emergency government employees to leave the U.S Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S Consulate in Erbil, due to the same concerns.

The US Embassy said in a statement these evacuations were "appropriate given the current security conditions," but did not confirm the nature of the threat.

Trump dismissed claims his administration is reviewing a plan to send 120,000 troops to the Middle East if Iran attacks the US forces, reports ABC News.

Contradictorily he said he would "send a hell of a lot more," troops if Iran attacked the US.
