Two mountaineers have been killed on the descend from Mt Everest's summit, according to local media reports.

In separate incidents, Indian woman Anjali S Kulkarni and US man Donald Lynn Cash both died while returning from the treacherous mountain's peak on Wednesday (local time).

A recovery effort has been launched, The Himalayan Times reports.

The deaths come after Seamus Lawless, of Ireland, went missing in the area on May 16 while Ravi Thakar, of India, also died descending the mountain last week.

This local spring climbing season has seen at least 13 killed - four of which have been on Mt Everest, The Himalayan Times reports.
