Four Queensland kids who took the family SUV on a 900km road trip have been found and returned home. 

The kids, aged between 10 and 14, packed the Nissan Patrol with fishing gear, took some cash and headed off on the epic road trip on Saturday night. They left a note saying they were leaving. 

They were located by police in Grafton, over 900km from their home in Gracemere, 7 News reported. 

The four-wheel drive was first seen in Banana in central Queensland at 4:45am on Sunday (local time), where the kids were allegedly involved in the theft of petrol.  

Police intercepted them in Grafton in New South Wales after they had been on the road for 10 hours, 7 News reported.
