An Ohio teenager has professed her love for a female teacher she was in a sexual relationship with, saying their love was real.

"I know in my heart I am completely in love with this woman, without a doubt," the 17-year-old girl told the court on Wednesday.

She said their relationship was "willing on both ends."

Jennifer Walsh, the 27-year-old special education teacher and lacrosse coach, faces 18 months in prison for gross sexual imposition.

She resigned from Cinnccinati's Sycamore High School in October 2018 after a police report was filed about her sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, reports the Cincinnati Inquirer

Walsh's sentencing was delayed as Judge Jody Leubbers said more time was needed to deliberate whether the pairs' relationship was real.

Walsh cried as the student spoke in court.

The lead investigator on the case asked Leubbers for leniency as the student had said she never felt coerced.
