Alan Jones ball-gag mural appears in Sydney

Alan Jones has appeared in a mural painted on a wall in Sydney, with a ball-gag in his mouth.

The outspoken Aussie broadcaster has made headlines in recent weeks for his barbed attacks on New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Sydney street artist Scott Marsh wasn't impressed with his comments.

"I thought they were pretty distasteful, and he's said a lot of things to that kind of effect in the past," he told AAP.

Marsh has painted unflattering public murals of a number of controversial figures in the past, including rugby star Israel Folau, Australian Senator Fraser Anning, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, rapper Kanye West and paedophile Cardinal George Pell.

"I had so many, dozens of people say, 'you have to paint Alan Jones'," so he did - with a BDSM ball-gag in the radio host's mouth.

"Alan's got a pretty big ego I think, so we'll see if he loves it or he hates it - I'm not quite sure yet."

One celebrity Marsh painted who escaped criticism was late singer George Michael, who was depicted as a saint. After his death in 2016, it emerged Michael had secretly funded a number of charitable causes.
