Kayakers have close call with collapsing Spencer Glacier in Alaska

A couple of Kayakers have survived a close call with a collapsing glacier.

Andrew Hooper and Josh Bastyr paddled over for a closer look as Alaska's Spencer Glacier first crumbled, then crashed into the water in front of them.

Both men were bashed and bruised by flying chunks of ice, but managed to escape the metre high wave that then came boring right at them.

"After the burst hit, we were able to see the iceberg again," Hooper says. "So we both turned our boats around and paddled as quick as we could.

"Luckily, everything turned out okay."

The pair said they're just grateful to be soaked but safe.
