Stefan Molyneux compares women wearing lipstick to men wearing an 'artificial boner'

A far-right speaker, whose planned speaking event in Auckland was cancelled last year, has claimed lipstick "stimulates sexual arousal", insinuating it should be banned in the workplace.

Stefan Molyneux tweeted: "Do you know that female lipstick stimulates sexual arousal?

"Can you imagine a man showing up for a business meeting with a giant artificial boner straining at his pants?

"Yet lipstick is perfectly acceptable in the business world."

He also tweeted women wear lipstick to detract from their declining fertility. Men who want children look for younger women so "Brightening and glossing lips is an attempt to countersignal this reality."

He was heavily criticised on Twitter for his post - not for the first time.

One user described his lipstick remarks as ranking in "the 10 stupidest things I have ever seen".

Other comments ranged from "You need help" and "This doesn't even make any sense,'' while many couldn't work out if he was joking or being serious.

The Powerstation called off Molyneux and Lauren Southern's gig last year - barely an hour after it was revealed as their top-secret venue - after a backlash on social media.

Newshub's Patrick Gower interviewed Molyneux and Southern after the cancellation of their Auckland event.

"There are individuals that don't want us to be here, including in Government, and individuals have said they want to attack the event. If someone goes 180 in one hour, there are usually forces pushing them," Molyneux told Gower during their visit last August.

Molyneux and Southern's visit was the source of controversy, with Auckland Mayor Phil Goff saying they weren't welcome in any council-owned venues in Auckland because of their history of racism and intolerance.
