A US defendant sucker-punching his own lawyer in the face while standing trial has been caught on camera.
Lamont Payne, who reportedly has a criminal record of various assaults, attacked public defence attorney Vladimir Gagic during a hearing in an Arizona courtroom.

Gagic was representing Payne after the man allegedly assaulted a Maricopa County corrections officer.
The attack gave Gagic a bloody nose.
ABC15 Arizona reports that Payne is now prohibited from attending court hearings in person and will be required to appear by video link in the future.
"I've been doing this for over 20 years now, and never once did it cross my mind, not even an iota of concern there... that something like this could happen to me," Gagic told local media.
