British Home Secretary Priti Patel says 'no way' Shamima Begum returning to England

The British Home Secretary says there is "no way" Islamic State (IS) bride Shamima Begum is returning to England and it's "reassuring" she's still in Syria.

In 2015, then-15-year-old Begum left the United Kingdom for Syria with two friends, desiring a life with terrorist group IS.

Earlier this year, she pleaded to return to England to give birth to her third child, but instead had her British citizenship revoked. She later had the child in a refugee camp, but the boy died.

In an interview with the Daily Mail last week, Begum said she hates IS and was "constantly making babies" while with them. Saying she had mental health issues, Begum again pleaded to be allowed back into the United Kingdom.

But British Home Secretary Priti Patel has responded, telling The Sun bluntly that there was "no way, no way" that the woman could return.

Patel also said it was "quite reassuring" that Begum remained in Syria.

"We don't need people who have done harm and left our country to be part of a death cult and to perpetuate that ideology," she told The Sun.

"We cannot have people who would do us harm allowed to enter our country – and that includes this woman.

"Everything I see in terms of security and intelligence, I am simply not willing to allow anybody who has been an active supporter or campaigner for IS in this country."

Begum earlier married an IS fighter and gave birth to two children, who died in infancy from malnutrition and illness.

But she fled from an IS base as its control began to crumble, fearing the safety for her then-unborn third child.

"In the end, I just could not endure anymore," she told the Times at the time.

"I just couldn't take it. Now all I want to do is come home to Britain... I'll do anything required just to be able to come home and live quietly with my child."

But then-UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid had her British citizenship revoked after she gave a controversial interview to Sky News saying she had had a "good time" with IS and people should have sympathy towards her.

A Sky News poll found 78 percent of people supported the decision to revoke Begum's citizenship.
