Terrifying pictures show Hurricane Dorian from above

Terrifying images show the scale of Hurricane Dorian, which is well on its way to Florida after slamming into the Bahamas.

A picture from the International Space Station shows the eye of the storm, with astronaut Nick Hague noting it looked like a powerful storm.

"You can feel the power of the storm when you stare into its eye from above. Stay safe everyone!" he said.

Video posted to Twitter from NASA shows the hurricane making its way over the Bahamas.   

Meteorologist Dakota Smith shared satellite video of the moment the hurricane the Bahamas, which she said was extraordinarily strong.

Dorian caused havoc once it made landfall in the Bahamas, causing the deaths of at least five people. It has been downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane on the way to Florida.
