A four-year-old Texan boy has been shot and killed by his five-year-old brother, according to reports.

Truth Albright was pronounced dead shortly after 12:30pm on Sunday (local time), the Dallas Morning News reports.

The sibling is reportedly a five-year-old, according to the New York Post. The fatal shooting allegedly occurred when the brothers discovered a gun inside the family home in the city of Fort Worth.

Truth died less than an hour after police responded to a report of a shooting on Greengage Drive. A Fort Worth police spokesman told the New York Post the four-year-old died in hospital.

Police have said the mother was home at the time, but asleep in another room.

Investigators have yet to determine whether the shooting was accidental or intentional.
