A vehicle hire firm in the UK is struggling to lease out one of its vehicles because it's been issued a rather rude number plate - BJ69.

Tabloid paper Metro reports the staff at Vanarama didn't notice the plate, which packs two different sex acts into its four characters, until a customer showed up to a Birmingham showroom to pick up the van and pointed it out.

"A customer of ours rejected their van yesterday because they weren't happy with the number plate that was allocated to them," boss Andy Alderson said.

"Every year the DVLA make a song and dance about censoring naughty number plates, but somehow they've decided 'BJ69' isn't too much."

Alderson said while the company has a "sense of humour about these things", not all its customers do.

"One of the reasons our customers love Vanarama is because a brand-new van is the best way of making a good impression with clients. Given this, we can understand that some customers might have some concerns about a number plate that looks like a quote from the Kama Sutra."

Alderson said the company would be asking the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency why the number plate was allowed to be issued.
