Trump 'dynasty' will 'last for decades' - campaign manager

If you think four years of Donald Trump in the White House is four too many, it's a phrase sure to send shivers down your spine.

"The Trumps will be a dynasty that lasts for decades."

That's from the US President's campaign manager Brad Parscale, who was speaking at a Republican convention in California, intended at rebuilding the party's presence in a state that hasn't voted for a Republican candidate since the 1980s.

Asked to clarify, Parscale praised the Trump family's "amazing capabilities", Politico reported.

"I think you see that from Don Jr. I think you see that from Ivanka. You see it from Jared. You see it from all."

Donald Jr is Trump's oldest son, Ivanka his eldest daughter, and Jared Kushner the latter's husband.

Donald Jr last year said "you never know" when asked if he'd run for office.

"I love the intensity of campaigning. I love aspects of the fight. I don't know how much I would love aspects of the actual job yet," he told the New York Times in words that might describe his father's attitude, if books like Michael Wolff's best-seller Fire and Fury are to be believed

Earlier this year Trump said if Ivanka ran for President, the 37-year-old would be "very hard to beat". She and her husband were portrayed in Fire and Fury as holding views far more liberal than the family patriarch.

The Times reports people close to the family have suggested Eric's wife Lara Trump is also considering entering politics. A former TV producer, she currently presents Real News Update - a web show dedicated to talking about the President's "accomplishments" - and once said letting in migrants would be the "downfall of Germany".

While many of the Trump children and his wider family have been given prominent roles in his administration, he's the only one that's actually been elected, defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election despite receiving millions fewer votes

By law, Trump can only serve one more term as US President. He has in the past suggested serving a third term, or perhaps even becoming President for life, praising China's recent abolishing of term limits to allow Xi Jinping to remain in power past the previous limit of 10 years. Last month he said he was the "chosen one" to deal with the United States' trade imbalance with China.

Every time, he later clarifies that he's joking.

So far three Republican politicians have put their hands up to take on Trump for the Republican nomination in 2020 - former Governor of Massachusetts Bill Weld, talk radio host and former Illinois Representative Joe Walsh, and former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.
