UK police hunt cyclist who headbutted pedestrian

UK police are hunting a cyclist who viciously headbutted a pedestrian to the ground following a near-miss at a pedestrian crossing.

Police say the victim was walking across the London road in August when a cyclist jumped a red light and nearly collided with him. The cyclist, in a moment of "unexplained rage", then got off his bike and head-butted the victim.

The 57-year-old man was left needing stitches in a wound above his eye and suffered ligament damage to his arm where he fell.

The cyclist then got back on his bike and calmly cycled away while his victim lay on the pavement.

The incident was captured on CCTV, which has now been released to help catch the suspect.

"We are asking the public to help us identify this cyclist, whose needlessly violent actions has left a member of the public with some nasty injuries," a City of London Police spokesperson says.

"If anyone has any information about the man who carried out this assault, please contact us. He is described as a white man in his 40s, around 5ft 10, of medium build, with short greying hair."
