A US father, who was paralysed following a car crash, woke to find his three young daughters had died in the collision.

An alleged drink-driver ploughed into the back of the family car as they stopped at a red light near Boise, Idaho on August 10. Somchai Lurak, 26, was driving with his three daughters - Aneena, 6, Kya, 5 and Drayka, 3 - and his fiancee Emma Weignand, 25, at the time of the crash.

While Weigand survived, suffering a broken arm, all three children died.

Lurak became conscious after being admitted to hospital. His brother, Anthony Smock, then broke the news to him that all three of his daughters had died in the collision.

Smock described his nieces as "the sweetest girls", The Sun reports.

"Our family has three pieces of our hearts missing now," he told the outlet.

Lurak has been described as "an incomplete quadriplegic" after his neck broke in the horrific accident. He reportedly has feeling in his legs, but cannot move. Doctors are unsure if he will be able to walk again.

The alleged drink-driver has been identified as Matthew Richard Park. His blood-alcohol level was allegedly over the legal limit, according to 7KTVB.

Park is reportedly due to be sentenced in February for three counts of vehicular manslaughter.

A GoFundMe page has since been established to raise funds to support the family.

"His precious angels did not make it. We are trying to come up with funeral and medical costs. Anything helps. Thank you," says the fundraising page, organised by Lurak's older sister, Amanda.

On September 7, Amanda wrote that her brother "is doing the best he can".

"He will need a special wheelchair, a handicap accessible van, including equipment to lift and assist him through this journey, and renovations to his place of residence," she wrote.

As of September 12, more than US$55,000 (NZ$85,423) has been raised towards the family's US$100,000 target.
