Vegan who took neighbours to court threatens legal action for meat eaters' protest

A vegan who took her neighbours to court over their barbecue has taken further legal action against the meat-eating protest planned for outside her home.

Cilla Carden ended up taking her neighbours to the Supreme Court over their smoking, bouncing balls and barbecuing in gardens adjacent to hers.

"They've put it there so I can smell fish; all I can smell is fish. I can't enjoy my backyard," she told 9 News on Monday.

The case was dismissed by both the Supreme Court and the Western Australia State Administrative Tribunal.

Media coverage of the case has now led to Carden needing to employ lawyers again after pro-meat eaters set up an event to barbecue outside her home.

More than 4000 people have clicked "attending" to the Facebook event "Community BBQ for Cilla Carden", which prohibits vegans from attending.

"Don’t let Cilla destroy a good old Aussie tradition, join us for a community BBQ in protest of her actions, and help Cilla Carden GET SOME PORK ON HER FORK," the event description says.

The location given is understood to be Carden's address. Carden's lawyer said anyone who enters the property will be charged with trespass.

"Any person who seeks to attend Ms Carden's property on Saturday, October 19, 2019, or at any other time in relation to this event or matter will be referred to the WA police on the grounds of trespass," Carden's lawyer John Hammond told the Daily Mail.

"Security cameras will be installed to obtain vision of any person attending the property and the vision will be provided to the police."
