Teen accused of throwing child off Tate Modern balcony is Jonty Bravery

The teenager accused of throwing a six-year-old boy off a balcony at London's Tate Modern in early August has been named as Jonty Bravery.

Bravery initially could not be named as he was 17 when he was charged. He has since turned 18, the BBC reports.

Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC, turned down an application to keep Bravery's name a secret after his 18th birthday at a hearing at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

No further details from the hearing can be reported.

The child Bravery is accused of throwing from the balcony will never be named. He's still recovering from the brain bleed and spinal fractures suffered after the five-floor fall.

His family said in a statement he's making progress but is still having trouble moving his body, eating or speaking.

"We see his efforts. We believe with all our heart that he will find the way, from his head, to do everything again," they said.

"He is very brave. He keeps on smiling and reacting to our jokes."
