A Kiwi man has been found dead at a jetty marina in Malaysia, according to local media outlets.

Barry James Stanley, 63, reportedly suffered from injuries to the top and back of his head.

Authorities say the part-time teacher and his friend sailed from Brunei and arrived at the Labuan jetty at Sunday 12pm local time.

"The deceased's friend, Alistair Charles Muir, was assisting him to tie up the boat at the dock, before going for lunch at a hotel nearby," Labuan police chief Supt Muhamad Farid Ahmad told local media.

Muir returned from his lunch approximately two hours later, to find Stanely lying on the jetty pathway and bleeding from his mouth.

"He shouted for help from the security guard at the guardhouse and with the help of a Bruneian, they conducted CPR on him," the police chief said.

Emergency services took Stanely to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead 15 minutes later.

Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of his death.
