Armed gunmen kidnap and dismember an injured hospital patient in Mexico

A group of heavily armed gunmen stormed a Mexican hospital to kidnap an injured patient who was later found dismembered.

The incident occurred on November 21 in Guanajuato, central Mexico, and the surveillance footage shows seven people intensely searching room-to-room for a patient at Salvatierra Hospital.

The armed men with masks were termed as "hitmen" by Mexican news outlet Aristegui Noticias. They are believed to be members of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel and the victim was intentionally targeted.

A security guard was held at gunpoint and forced to help the group find who they were looking for.

The kidnappers took cell phones from hospital staff to prevent them from calling police until after they had left the building.

When they found the unidentified patient they wanted, they carried him out on a stretcher. He was later discovered dismembered on a street in a nearby neighbourhood, Aristegui Noticias reported.

It isn't known who the gunmen are or why they targeted the patient, but in October an armed group charged into two other nearby community hospitals, Juventino Rosas and Apaseo el Grande.

In both incidents, male patients who were admitted with gunshot wounds were kidnapped and killed.
