Australian snake-catcher livestreams deadly snake bite

An Australian snake-catcher is lucky to be alive after being bitten by a highly venomous snake.

Tony Harrison was visiting a home in Pimpama, Gold Coast on Saturday to remove a snake from under an air conditioning unit.

He decided to livestream his catch on Facebook - but as he lifted the air conditioner, things went wrong.

The tiny brown snake whipped out from under the unit and Harrison can be heard exclaiming in pain. In the background a woman's voice can be heard.

"He didn't get you did he? Oh he did! Are you alright?" she says.

The snake had bitten Harrison's thumb and he was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

The eastern brown snake is considered the world's second-most venomous snake.

Harrison said in another video from his hospital bed that he is allergic to the venom of the snake and had suffered anaphylactic shock from a previous bite.

Luckily, the bite he received was a "dry bite" meaning no venom passed into his system. He was kept in hospital overnight and returned to work on Sunday morning.
