A shooting in New Orleans on Sunday morning (local time) has injured 11 people, according to local police

The incident occurred at 3:20am in the popular French Quarter while thousands of visitors were in town celebrating an annual American football game, the New Orleans Advocate reported.

All victims were being treated in hospital and two were in a critical condition. No fatalities have been reported.

New Orleans police said on Twitter that "an individual was detained near the scene", but their possible involvement in the incident remains under investigation.
