Ohio lawmakers issue 'misinformed' anti-abortion bill, ordering doctors to practice procedure that doesn't exist

An Ohio abortion bill will require doctors to perform a medically impossible procedure.

The bill requires health practitioners to reimplant a foetus from an ectopic pregnancy.

An ectopic pregnancy is a procedure caused by a woman's fertilised egg implanting outside the uterus. It is unviable and the foetus is usually aborted.

The bill was sponsored by two Ohio lawmakers Candice Keller and Ron Hood.

"The time has come to abolish abortion in its entirety and recognise that each individual has the inviolable and inalienable right to life," Keller said.

She added that any provider performing an abortion by any method will face murder charges.

But health practitioners have called out the bill, flooding Twitter with their comments.

One doctor strongly disagreed with the bill stating the procedure is not only medically impossible but 'misogynistic' and 'insensitive'.

Other health practitioners tried to educate the 'misinformed' lawmakers.

"Unfortunately an ectopic pregnancy cannot be "reimplanted" into the uterus. We just don't have the technology. So I would suggest removing this from your bill, since it's pure science fiction," said Dr Daniel Grossman, a Clinical & public health researcher on abortion & contraception.

Ectopic pregnancies are quite rare but extremely painful. One in every 50 women in the U.S experience the procedure.

Despite the rarity of the condition, symptoms, if left unchecked could be life-threatening.
