Trump claims Americans have to flush 15 times to get rid of poo

Donald Trump says regulations aimed at conserving water use need to be rolled back because people are flushing toilets "10 times, 15 times" instead of just once.

The US President made the bizarre claim while speaking to media on Friday (US time), saying it's resulting in poor water pressure and wastage.

"People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times as opposed to once. They end up using more water."

Regulations have limited the amount of water toilets in the US can use per flush since the 1990s, US media reported. Because people are flushing them "15 times" instead of once, Trump says this is resulting in lowered pressure across other plumbing systems.

"You can't wash your hands practically, there's so little water that comes out of the faucet. And the end result is you leave the faucet on and it takes you so much longer to wash your hands and you end up using the same amount of water."

He said there's plenty of water around and restrictions aren't required.

"It comes down," he explained. "It's called rain. They don't know what to do with it."

Trump this week also spoke out against energy-efficient bulbs, reiterating his concerns they make him look orange, and newer cars, saying they're "made out of papier-mache".
