Young girl protesting Scott Morrison's absence amid bushfires told 'force may be used' if she doesn't leave

A young activist has been threatened with arrest for protesting outside Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison's house.

The girl, named Issey, was protesting with her father outside Kirribilli House in Sydney on Thursday.

A police officer approached the pair and told them to move on, or else they could be arrested, reports news.com.au.

"I warn you should you fail to comply with my direction, you may be arrested, force may be used. Do you understand Issey?" a video shows him saying.

Fighting back tears, the young girl replied "yes" as she retreats with her father.

She was holding a sign which read "Look at what you've left us, watch us fight it, watch us win."

Her protest comes amid anger at the Prime Minister for being on holiday while Australia is plagued with bush fires.

Morrison has since apologised for his absence, saying he "deeply regrets" any offence caused.

So far the fires have killed eight people and destroyed more than 700 homes, reports the BBC.

The fires are out of control, and a brutal drought combined with soaring temperatures is not helping.

The average maximum temperature across the country was 40C on Tuesday, making it the country's hottest day on record.
