A chilling video has captured the terryifying speed of the bushfires in Australia.

The clip, released by the Dunmore Rural Fire service on Tuesday, sparked a huge reaction online because of the sheer velocity the fire took over the landscape and fire crew - turning a blue sky into a post-apocalyptic inferno.

The ordeal was caught on dashcam at around 7pm on January 4, in Tomerong (90km south of Sydney), when a crew was undertaking property protection ahead of a forecasted southerly wind.

But the wind change came 10 minutes earlier than expected - and proved the terrifying, unforgivable power of the bushfires.

In less than three minutes, the fire fueled by 100kmph wind and dry conditions quickly destroyed surrounding bush and overtaking the road - forcing the crew to evacuate.

In the video, the fire-fighters can be seen scrambling to pack up their gear and rushing to leave, seconds before the rain of embers took over the screen.

The truck capturing the filming was left behind.

The fire service posted the video as a timely reminder of how quickly a fire can impact.
