A Twitter account posing as God has denounced US President Donald Trump.

American news site The Hill posted an article about Trump's presence at an evangelical rally on Friday. The article said the US president told supporters they have "God on their side".

Once the article was posted on social media, a satirical Twitter account belonging to "God" came out swinging.

"No. No. Negative, Untrue. False. Incorrect. In no way the case. No" wrote God above the retweeted article.

The response has received more than 200,000 likes and almost 50,000 retweets.

Trump's presence at the evangelical event in Miami has garnered a wide reaction on social media.

Vox journalist Aairon Rupar said it had "major cult energy".

Another person said the event was "Jim Jones level shit" referencing the infamous American cult leader of a commune in Jonestown who orchestrated the mass death of his followers.
