A Michigan father is accused of murdering a man he met on Grindr before cutting off and eating part of his body.

Mark Latunski, 50, faces one count of murder and one of disinterment and mutilation of a dead body over the death of 25-year-old Kevin Bacon.

Police found Bacon's body in Latunski's basement in December. The 25-year-old hairstylist was found naked and strung by his ankles in a hidden room, reports The Washington Post.

Police say Latunski confessed on the spot and explained his gruesome process.

He told police he stabbed Bacon in the back, before hanging him from the ceiling and cutting his throat.

Latunski then told police he cut off his victim's testicles and cooked them in order to eat them.

Police are seeking other men Latunski met on Grindr, a popular dating app which caters to the gay community.

In the months leading up to Bacon's deaths, two other men fled Latunski's home after becoming frightened during sexual encounters.

One man fled and called police on October 10, and another escaped after being chained up in the basement during a sexual encounter in November.

Neither man wished to file a police report, according to Detroit Free Press.

The news website reports police were called to his address a dozen times in the last10 years for various complaints including failure to pay child support and welfare checks.

He has pleaded not guilty to both charges and will seek an insanity defence. According to divorce filings from his ex-wife, Latunksi has a long history of mental illness.

An August 2019 motion to suspend his parenting time with their four children cites paranoid schizophrenia, chronic major depression with psychotic features, and adjustment disorder with depression and borderline personality traits.
