A Donald Trump supporter has gone viral for posing with a man he thought was Keanu Reeves.

Bill Montanary posted to a Facebook group meant for people to share their pictures of themselves wearing Trump paraphernalia or carrying Trump banners.

"Maryland Bike Show this past weekend with Keanu. Apparently he restores antique bikes and is a Trump supporter," wrote Montanary.

The three photographs show a man who is definitely not Keanu Reeves looking slightly uncomfortable next to Montanary who is wearing confederate flag jacket.

Eagle-eyed commenters were quick to point out the mistaken identity.

"Lol what are you drinking that's not Keanu," wrote one man.

"Close, but no cigar," wrote another.

The pictures have been shared more than 1000 times and received hundreds of comments. Once they were posted on Twitter the fame skyrocketed further.

Eventually, the Keanu lookalike realised he was making waves across the internet and made his own post to clear some things up.

"Some jerk took my photo last weekend at the Timonium Bike Show and now posting online that he met Keanu Reeves. Jesus. Really people???" wrote Nick German on Facebook.

He clarified in the comments that he wasn't a Trump supporter.

"HELL NO TO TRUMP. I never saw the banner. I told the guy to hurry up," he wrote.

The Tweet has received more than 200,000 likes and been retweeted more than 30,000 times.
