Mexican clown fatally shot defending mother and baby during robbery

A man who worked as a clown was shot dead while trying to defend a mother and her baby from a robber.

Humberto Rojas Landa, 51, was at a restaurant in Puebla, Mexico when a robber entered and allegedly attacked customers on Thursday, Febuary 6, 2020, according to the Alcala News.

After noticing a mother and her child in distress, Landa attempted to defend the pair by hitting the robber with a water jug but was shot in the head. 

After shooting Landa, the robber fled the scene with a stolen mobile phone, reported local media. 

Landa spent 24 hours in hospital before he died. 

According to local media, Landa also known as "Dr Tickle" helped ill children with laughter therapy, and was beloved by the public. 

The Municipal Institute of Art and Culture of Puebla community and authorities sent their condolences to the family. 

The suspect has not been identified by Police.
