US Republican lawmakers in Maryland are furious over a high-school lesson that compared President Donald Trump to Nazis and Stalin.

On Wednesday, a history class slideshow at Loch Raven high school, near Baltimore, showed a slide of Donald Trump and underneath him was a swastika and the flag of the Soviet Union.

The caption of Trump’s photo read: 'wants to round up a group of people and build a giant wall'.

Written below on the swastika image was ‘been there” and on the Soviet Union flag “done that.’

Written beside the images is ‘Oh, that’s why it sounded familiar.’

According to The Baltimore Sun, State delegate, Kathy Szeliga had copies of the slide and school system’s response sent to fellow Baltimore county members.

“It is horrific. It is educational malfeasance,” Szeliga said at a county delegation meeting on Friday.

A Baltimore councilman, Wade Kach, described the slide as a “piece of propaganda” that shouldn’t be in a classroom.

The Baltimore County Public Schools said in a statement: 'The topics being discussed in the class included World Wars and the attempts by some leaders throughout history to limit or prevent migration into certain countries. In isolation and out of context with the lesson, the image could be misunderstood,'

The school system said the issue will be appropriately addressed by the school administration and is not subject to further clarification.
