Coronavirus: Australian woman charged with spitting in police officer's face

A woman in Australia has been charged with spitting on a police officer during an arrest.

Before the assault she claimed she was on her way to get tested for COVID-19.

The 25-year-old was pulled over after she was allegedly caught speeding at 120km/h through Greenacre, southwest Sydney on Friday afternoon.

She then spat in the officer's face and told him she was due to be tested for coronavirus.

She also coughed on him as he tried to put her in the police van.

The woman was initially denied bail and appeared in court on Saturday. However, she has since been released on bail and is scheduled to undergo a mental health assessment.
