Coronavirus pandemic: Australian supermarket shoppers involved in violent brawl amid panic-buying

Another violent brawl has broken out in an Australian Woolworths as shoppers continue to panic-buy amid the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

The spread of the deadly coronavirus - which has infected more than 163,000 people worldwide - has led to widespread panic-buying.

Video has emerged of another scuffle in a Sydney supermarket amid the rush. It shows the brawl unfolding between two men as other customers yell and scream.

"He hit my dad!" a man can be heard yelling in the video.

Police said they were called to a Woolworths store in the Sydney suburb of Bass Hill about 12:30pm on Sunday, where there were reports a 54-year-old man had been assaulted, 9 News reports. No-one was arrested and enquiries are continuing.

Woolworths, meanwhile, has condemned the fighting.

"Our team members are doing the very best they can to serve the needs of the community, so we ask customers to be respectful to them, and each other," a spokesperson told 9 News.

Earlier this month, a violent fight broke out in another Australian Woolworths over a single pack of toilet paper.

After the two women involved were separated, they began bickering. The lady who wanted the toilet paper could be heard saying, "I just want one pack".

On Friday, The Warehouse in New Zealand announced the company would limit some items amid coronavirus panic buying.

"As demand for cleaning products, household items, pantry stocks and more remains high, we're sending more products to our stores as quickly as possible," chief executive Pejman Okhova said.
