Melbourne 'poojogger' defecates in family park

An inner Melbourne community has been left horrified after a jogger defecated in a local garden where children play.

A man in running clothes was caught on CCTV footage squatting between plants with his pants down in Albert Park at 6:50am on Tuesday.

Resident Shayne Whiteley, whose property borders the small garden, said finding the incident just topped his 'crap' day off.

Whitely said he initially put in the cameras to catch thieves attempting to steal the plants when he came across the footage. He said he couldn't believe his eyes.

"I was just disgusted, mainly because the local kids all play in the little fairy garden and have a great time," he told the Herald Sun, news.com.au reported.

"I had to grab a shovel and clean it up, because the kids are in the garden all the time."

He said he was more outraged because there is a public bathroom right across the street.

The incident comes after a string of "poo joggers" in Australia, including in Sydney and Brisbane.

The jogger in Brisbane was also revealed in June 2018 to be high profile businessman Andrew Douglas Macintosh - a national quality manager with retirement village provider Aveo.

He was also a member of the Brisbane City Council planning board.

Eventually, police tracked him down and charged him with public nuisance.
