An eight-year-old girl, her mother and her grandfather have been found dead in their pool in New Jersey, reports CNN.
The East Brunswick Police Department told CNN they found the bodies of the victims unresponsive in their backyard pool on Monday. The young girl, mother and grandfather were pronounced dead a short time after.
Police were alerted to the scene through a call from a concerned neighbour who heard screaming coming from the property.
CNN reports the family only moved into the house 20 days prior to being found dead.
"This is a devastating day for our entire community and we are working to determine exactly what happened," East Brunswick police chief Frank LoSacco told CNN.
On Tuesday the county medical examiner's office ruled the manner of the death as accidental and as a result of drowning.
There was another person in the house at the time of the incident but authorities won't confirm how the person was related to the family.
