Comedian DL Hughley tested positive for coronavirus after collapsing on stage during a performance in Nashville on Friday.

His publicist, Yvette Shearer, said Hughley was suffering from exhaustion after working and travelling throughout the week, CNN reports.

Hughley began slurring his words and then slumped over in his chair. His manager rushed on stage to catch him and lower him to the ground with the help of two others.

Hughley was then carried off stage and taken to St Thomas hospital to get medically assessed, CNN reports..

He posted on Twitter, thanking the public for their well wishes and provide an update on how he was holding up.

"I was being treated for extreme exhaustion and dehydration, but they ran a battery of tests and I also tested positive for COVID-19 which blew me away. I was asymptomatic, I didn't have any of the symptoms."

He says he did not suffer from any of the symptoms linked to coronavirus, but lost consciousness on stage.

"If your ass pass out on stage, in the middle of a show, you probably need to get tested."

He said he was going back to his hotel room to quarantine for 14 days and hoped he would not develop any more symptoms or pass out again.
