Michigan officer joins protesters and NYPD officer takes the knee

Tensions between police and protesters have dominated Black Lives Matter coverage from around the world. 

But while the violence has made headlines, so too have the heartwarming and powerful moments.

First there was Michigan officer Chris Swanson, who after laying down his weapons, joined protesters as they walked.

Then there was NYPD Deputy Inspector Vincent Tavalaro, who took the knee after meeting with demonstrators.
