Video: Angry Arizona woman films herself trashing Target face mask display

An Arizona woman has filmed herself trashing a Target face mask display, claiming the COVID-19 pandemic "is over".

A video of Melissa Rein Lively throwing face masks while swearing and boasting about her $40,000 Rolex has gained 9 million views on Twitter.

Social media users dubbed the public relations firm CEO a 'Karen' - a term popularised by the internet to describe an obnoxious and entitled middle-aged woman.

In the footage shared to her Instagram on Sunday, Lively approaches a shelf of face masks and says: "Finally, we meet the end of the road."

Lively hauls the masks off the display and throws them onto the ground.

"We don't want any of this anymore. This shit is over," she says referring to COVID-19.

When two Target employees ask her to stop, Lively says: "Why? You let everyone else do it. Why? I can't do it 'cause I'm a blonde, white woman? Wearing a f***ing $40,000 Rolex?"

A second video, filmed using Instagram Live on Lively's PR company @thebrandconsortium's profile, shows police confronting Lively at her home after the Target incident.

The footage shows Lively claim she is a spokesperson for the White House and far-right conspiracy theory QAnon - a belief there is a 'deep state' working against Donald Trump and his supporters.

Lively tells the police to "call Donald Trump and ask him" and claims she can't share any "classified information".

When the police attempt to arrest her, she says: "You're doing this to me 'cause I'm Jewish" and "This is a nazi f***ing game."

It is unclear from the video whether Lively was arrested.

Other videos exposing shoppers declining to wear compulsory face masks have gone viral, including one customer who refused to leave a Costco store because the United States is a "free country".

On Sunday, Arizona recorded 101,519 total COVID-19 cases, 3510 new cases and eight further deaths, The New York Times reported.
