Beirut explosion: Horrific images show scale of the destruction

More horrific pictures are emerging showing the extent of the damage from the deadly Beirut explosion.

At least 135 people were killed and more than 5000 other people were injured in Tuesday's (local time) explosion at Beirut port. Up to 250,000 people were also left without homes fit to live in after shockwaves smashed building facades

Lebanon Health Minister Hamad Hassan said dozens of people remain missing.

The death toll was expected to rise from the blast, which officials blamed on a huge stockpile of highly explosive material stored for years in unsafe conditions at the port.
