Donald Trump's senior campaign adviser has become the subject of a slew of jokes on social media following her bizarre speech at the Republican National Convention.

Former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle screeched her way through her speech on Tuesday night, saying Democrats would reduce cities like California (of which her ex-husband is the Democratic Governor)  to "a land of discarded heroin needles in parks, riots in streets and blackouts in homes".

She warned "socialists" Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would "enslave" America before saying Trump would restore the country to "a shining city on a hill".

"They want to steal your liberty, your freedom, they want to control what you see and think and believe so that they can control how you live," she called out to the empty room.

The Convention was live-streamed as the US is still overrun with COVID-19 cases, with more than 33,000 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

But it was Guilfoyle's final remarks which have caused a firestorm of clowning on social media.

Stretching her arms wide, she beamed manically as she boomed out her finishing statement.

"Ladies and gentlemen, leaders and fighters of the American dream the best is yet to come!"

The speech has been likened to that of a "supervillain" or military propaganda.

But it wasn't just Guilfoyle's speech that raised eyebrows - her boyfriend Donald Trump Jr.'s odd appearance has received some attention too.

Pictures of a bleary-eyed Trump Jr. have commenters wondering if the President's son is on drugs.

His odd appearance garnered so much attention the hashtags 'cocaine' and 'Donald Trump Jr.' both briefly trended on Twitter at the same time.
