A group of Floridians in 'Make America Great Again' apparel have been filmed marching through a Target store, swinging masks above their heads and singing Twin Sister's 'We're Not Gonna Take It' in a flash mob protesting mask-wearing.

The group's demonstration took place on Thursday (local time), where more than 671,000 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed and the death toll has grown to almost 13,000.

Although masks have not been mandated by the state, Target and other retail chains have made masks or face coverings mandatory nationwide. An exception has been made for people with medical conditions or for young children.

The protesters can be heard in the video saying: "Breathe, it's all a lie. Take it off, join us. If an infant doesn't wear a mask, then no one should wear a mask."

About nine members of the flash mob can be seen parading around the store in the now-viral video, encouraging other customers to flout Target's mask protocol.

At one point, a customer appears to heed their call and takes her mask off, saying: "Look at me, we're not gonna take it anymore."

One of the protesters, Christina Gomez, had already appeared in the media after she claimed people who wear masks were "obeying the devil's laws".

Gomez had been promoting the "anti-mask flash mob" on her Facebook page leading up to the event.

Before the group entered the store, she posted a video on Facebook of a man standing on a ute, rallying the maskless flashmob.

"Who here is sick and tired of having to wear one of these things every time you go in a store," said the man. "Who is tired of wearing a muzzle?"

Both questions were replied to with affirming cries from the assembled group.

A spokesperson for Target told HuffPost they were “aware of the group of guests who came into the store last night and we asked them to leave after they removed their masks and became disruptive and rude to other shoppers".

The protest took place the same day the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield stated masks may provide more protection than a coronavirus vaccine while speaking to the Senate.
