An Argentine man has been charged with homicide after he allegedly strangled a 14-year-old girl to death with her own scarf.
The body of Ludmila Prettiwas was found on Monday (local time) in Buenos Aires, Cronica reports. The newspaper says, citing a judicial department spokesman, she had been reported missing by her mother on Sunday.
On Tuesday, 19-year-old Cristian Adrián Jérez was arrested and charged with aggravated homicide. Jérez was allegedly hosting a party on the night of the murder, despite mass-gatherings being banned due to COVID-19.
He became the main suspect in Ludmila's death after a federal agent tracked her phone to his house where her body was found, local newspaper Clarin reported.
Neighbours reportedly told the newspaper that Jérez would host parties "every weekend". No-one else has been arrested in connection to the homicide.
According to Cronica, Jérez has been denied bail and is refusing to testify.
