Kiwi woman accused of 'horrific' axe-murder in Sydney

A Kiwi woman living in Sydney has been charged with allegedly killing her boyfriend with an axe in a "horrific" domestic violence incident.

Naea Moli, 34, is accused of stabbing her partner Geo Sione, 35, multiple times while he watched a movie in their bedroom on Sunday afternoon.

ABC News obtained CCTV which showed Moli having a cigarette outside their house after the incident before she caught a taxi to the police station.

Detective Inspector Jason Pietruszka confirmed she was charged with murder.

"She was quite calm, she was lucid, she provided the information and we responded accordingly," he said, ABC News reported.

Pietruszka said Sione's body was found lying on the bed in a "horrific" scene.

"That's the only way to describe it. It's obviously quite horrendous to walk into.

"This is a horrific incident, it shows what can happen at its worst regarding domestic violence."

The couple had been together for 10 years and emigrated to Australia from New Zealand, Pietruszka said.

Court documents obtained by ABC News showed Sione had taken out an apprehended violence order against Moli. The network also understood Sione had been convicted of assaulting her about a year ago.
