A Queensland woman has been charged for allegedly abducting two children on Saturday afternoon (local time).

The woman allegedly kidnapped a 7-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy known to her from a house in Redbank Plains, Ipswich, at 4pm.

"Police held serious concerns for the safety of the children and an Amber Alert was issued," Queensland Police said in a statement

Following investigations, police found the two children "safe and well" at a residence in Alexandra Hills.

The 26-year-old woman was taken into custody and charged with two counts each of child stealing and removing a child from a carer.

She has been refused bail and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigations are ongoing.
