The husband of a young Australian model has been charged with murder after she was found dead at her apartment in Sydney.

Sabah Hafiz, 23, was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in Wentworthville on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the apartment at 2:40am (local time) after a neighbour reported a woman had been badly injured.

Hafiz died at the scene.

Her husband, 24-year-old Adam Cureton, could not be located on Wednesday.

He was eventually found at a Maroubra apartment - approximately 50 minutes drive from Wentworthville - and arrested at 11am on Thursday (local time).

Hafiz's father, Sonah Hafiz, told ABC News he had never met his daughter's husband, but believed the pair had been married only "a few years".

Cureton was refused bail and appeared in the Parramatta Local Court on Friday, where he was charged with murder.
