Man accused of injecting bread with blood-covered needle at Melbourne Woolworths supermarket

An Australian man has been charged with allegedly contaminating a loaf of bread with a used needle he had licked.

Fue Yang, a Craigieburn resident, appeared in a Melbourne court on Thursday charged with contaminating goods after Victoria police raided his home on Wednesday.

The Woolworths in Melbourne's outer-north was forced to remove all bread from its shelves after 33-year-old Yang allegedly contaminated them.

Police allege a security guard saw Yang with a bloody needle and blood-stained tissue trying to enter the supermarket on Tuesday.

They say the guard told Yang to leave the needle outside but he refused and snuck into the store when the guard was on a break.

Yang is accused of opening a loaf of bread, licking the bloodied needle, and pushing the needle into the loaf.

When Yang was confronted by a witness he apologised and began running away, reports The Age.

Yang is also accused of committing an offence while on bail, reports 7 News. Police have applied to have his bail revoked, and he will reappear in court in November.
