NSW Police have launched a desperate search for two schoolgirls who went missing in south-west Sydney.

Eliza Coronakes and Sandy Alsalihi, both aged 14, were last seen at their homes on Wednesday night (local time).

Neither girls have been seen or heard from since.

Officers at the Liverpool City Police Area Command are investigating their whereabouts and are concerned for their welfare.

Sandy, last seen in the suburb of Hinchinbrook near Liverpool, is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, between 165cm and 175 cm tall, with a dark brown bob.

She was last seen wearing a maroon turtleneck jumper and dark grey tracksuit pants.

Eliza, last seen at her Middleton Grange home, is Caucasian, between 160 and 170cm tall, with long brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a black hoodie with 'Positive Mental Attitudes' written on the sleeves and black tracksuit pants but may also be wearing a black hoodie with green camouflage sleeves.

Police believe the girls could be in the Strathfield or Burwood areas in Sydney's inner-west or in Auburn in the city's west.
