Chainsaw attack seriously injures Australian man

A man has been seriously injured in what appears to be a chainsaw attack in Tasmania.

The 59-year-old is in hospital with "significant" wounds to his arms following what police believe to be a neighbourhood dispute on Tuesday.

"A woman and man had attended a neighbouring property, the woman allegedly crashed a vehicle into the neighbour's shed, and the man allegedly injured the neighbour with a chainsaw," police said in a statement.

The 52-year-old woman and 60-year-old man are both in police custody, with charges expected.

Police have reassured the community the attack was an isolated incident, with no risk to the wider public.
