Donald Trump says 'who knows' who won the US election, in first comments since defeat

Donald Trump has not yet admitted defeat, but cracks are starting to show - the US President admitting he doesn't know whose administration will be leading the US from January 20.

Speaking for the first time on camera from the White House rose garden since the election result was determined beyond doubt, Trump first talked about Operation Warp Speed - the US government's efforts to find a COVID-19 vaccine.

During the speech he said the Trump administration "will not be going to a lockdown".

He followed up with speculation about his future, for the first time admitting he wasn't sure whether he or Joe Biden had secured the win.

"Hopefully the ah.. whatever happens in the future, who knows which administration it will be, I guess time will tell."

Trump has not conceded despite Democratic rival Joe Biden projected to win 306 Electoral College votes - 270  are needed to win the presidency.

Biden's victory in the battleground state of Arizona on Friday secured his win and pushed Trump's hopes of winning the election through court battles even further from reach.

Trump has been claiming he lost due to election fraud, yet election officials have reported no serious irregularities.
