The wife of a slain gang president was robbed of AU$20,000 as she attended his funeral.

Former Rebels leader Nick Martin was gunned down in front of horrified onlookers on December 12.

His funeral was held on Friday in Perth with hundreds of patched gang members in attendance.

A heavy police presence lined the procession - but as mourners gathered to farewell 51-year-old Martin, a thief allegedly took off with a safe full of cash from his wife's home.

Police are hunting for the person who killed Martin amid fears of an all-out turf war between Perth motorcycle gangs.

His death came two weeks after Martin brawled with Hells Angels enforcer Dayne Brajkovich. Brajkovich was subsequently fined $800 for the violent fight which occurred in a Perth pub in broad daylight.

The conflict between gangs has sparked concern violence could spill into the streets, and the Western Australian government has offered a $1 million reward for any information which brings Martin's killer into custody.

Police say they have received a slew of calls about the homicide.
