Macaulay Culkin has agreed with calls to remove Donald Trump from Home Alone 2.

The outgoing US President makes a cameo appearance in the 1994 hit film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, where he has one line, directing Culkin's lost character to the Plaza Hotel lobby.

In the film Culkin plays Kevin McCallister, a mischievous child left alone in a hotel over Christmas.

A user on Twitter suggested that Culkin, now 40, should replace Trump in a digital edit of the film - an idea the lead actor is "sold" on.

The tweet said: "petition to digitally replace trump in 'home alone 2' with 40-year-old macaulay culkin."

"Sold," Culkin replied.

The film's director Chris Columbus has previously said that Trump "bullied" his way into the movie, only allowing the Plaza - which Trump owned at the time - to be used if he got to feature.

Culkin's calls to digitally remove Trump came just one day before the House voted to impeach him for a historic second time on Thursday.

The US House of Representatives voted to impeach by 232 to 197, charging Trump with "incitement of insurrection" after the violent Capitol riots lead to the deaths of five people.
